Good December day to you!
I am so feeling the energies as we are preparing to head into a New Year…..but more on that in the weeks to come.
I saw a video the other day of Obama shopping on Small Business Saturday with his daughters. It was just a couple of minutes long, and I found myself weeping by the end of it. I tuned inward and asked the question, “What is this about? What are these tears regarding?”
I immediately heard, “WE THE PEOPLE”, and I instantly knew the message.
You see, the people in the bookstore with Obama were in such awe of him. There was a palpable feeling, even watching the video, of this regard and veneration.
I have a feeling you too would be in awe, no matter your political party and no matter your opinion of Obama, if you rubbed shoulders with the President of the United States.
(Please know that I am not in one political party—none of what I am suggesting or writing is about either party specifically.)
We the people…..we so want to believe in Leadership. We so want to feel confident about putting our trust in the Leaders of our country. I wept because I saw the people….I saw myself in the people….a people longing for authenticity and honesty and something solid to put our hope in.
We the people have for too long blindly trusted when there hasn’t really been much to trust in. The foundations of this great nation have been shaking and quaking for far too long, and yet media continues to prop up and cover up so that we the people won’t get too too restless.
But the time has come for us to stand up and trust in ourselves more than we ever have.
I think it’s easy for us to feel powerless regarding the direction our nation is going. It’s easy to think, “Well, what can I do?” and then feel dejected even in the asking.
Our vote can seem small in comparison to what really needs to be done towards re-building our country.
The problems loom large and the solutions seem far too small and too complicated.
What can we do?
The beginning of the United States Constitution reads:
“We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”
The line that so stands out to me is securing the Blessings of Liberty for ourselves and for ALL future generations of people (posterity). WOW!
So how do WE do this? How do WE live such that this occurs? What power is ours in the face of injustice, inauthentic leadership, and deceptive government?
I’ll tell you exactly what you can do. Starting right now.
Spend some time thinking about what Liberty means, what Liberty looks and feels like and how you would like to see this lived out for generations to come.
Focus your attention and energy on this feeling day after day. See it. Taste it. BE it.
Be Liberty. Be Liberty as you are out Christmas shopping. Be the Blessing of Liberty as you spend time with people at work. Embody Liberty with every breath.
Remove your attention from all that is unwanted. Remove your focus from the fear you might feel or the judgments you hold about leadership.
We the people, in order to form a more perfect union…..
We choose to trust in ourselves.
We choose to believe in the power of Love.
We choose to let go of our cynicism and our blind trust.
We choose to purify ourselves that we might embody Liberty and Justice for ALL.
We choose to behold not only our nation but the world in a state of prosperity and healing and peace.
You are so powerful. Don’t give your power away to elected leadership. Yes, pray for them, support them, write to them….we need them… AND know that YOU are also the leader we are all waiting for.
Think and feel freedom. See it, taste it, know it. Intend it.
We cannot wait for someone else to legislate Liberty. It’s time for us to live it. It’s time for us to envision it and become it and CELEBRATE it!
