No Excuses, Life is Waiting

Today’s blog entry is oh so simple and oh so important.

It’s a message you’ve probably heard before, so I want you to pause right this moment and pretend you are putting on some funky magic glasses that will allow you to see and hear what you’ve never before seen or heard.

Okay?  Got them on?

How much time in your life do you spend engaged in activities that are exhilarating to your soul?  That are invigorating to mind, body, spirit?

When we are exhilarated and invigorated, it means we are being strengthened, we are receiving new energy, and life is being infused into us.

Reminds me of drinking fresh squeezed vegetable juice…it’s as if I can feel my cells tingling and shouting and rejoicing!  There’s this poof of zesty energetic aliveness happening.

My teenage sons and I have recently started mountain biking on greenbelt trails around Austin.  If you know anything about Austin, you know it’s known for its miles and miles of off-road trails weaving all around the city.

We have always been street cyclists so the mountain biking is brand new.  I used to do it back in the day but it’s been a long while.  And we aren’t talking about novice trails either….the kind we enjoy demand your full attention, awareness and focus.

I am like a kid in a candy store out there.  I LOVE it!  I have always loved rugged sports like trail running, dirt bike riding, and rock climbing, so riding on these demanding trails, for me, is like being born again.  I’m not kidding.

I’m alive out there!

My spirit soars.

My body is challenged in fresh ways, and it’s so exhilarating to feel it rise to the challenge.

My mind is stimulated as I must quickly make decisions while navigating rocks, roots, and trees.

My emotions are aligned with Divine bliss as I encounter Mother Nature in her glory, and as I experience the joy of having so much fun with my kids.

I’m being strengthened in all ways.  Infused with life.  Bursting with eagerness for what’s next.

I KNOW we are made to enjoy exhilarating and invigorating experiences.

When did we become so tame?

It might not be something so physical for you, it might come in the form of painting or singing or acting.  It might be sitting on the side of a mountain and watching the sunset.  It might be bird watching.

Or maybe it’s taking up something brand new….like bicycle touring through the country, learning to play tennis, body surfing, new heightened forms of prayer and meditation, taking that cooking class you’ve always wanted to take, learning to sculpt…….new ways of making love!

It doesn’t matter what it is, just do it.

No excuses, life is waiting for you.  Truly what is so important?

Our cells need invigorating.  Our souls need exhilarating.  Our hearts need the glory.

I will be thinking of you on the trails today, sending you my love and wondering what thrills you.

I would love to hear from you—write me in the comments and let me know what glory you partake in or what you are going to try out!

Let’s live well!

Big Love,
